Cemetery avenue sign replacements 1999 - 2019

A slightly different restoration project that started some years ago was the replacement  and repairing of avenue signs throughout the cemetery. These have been designed by our member David Cowley (shown below), based on an old sign he discovered within the grounds.

Each replica was constructed, painted and lettered by David, with the Society bearing the cost of the materials. Each signpost was supported on a single wooden post and stands about 2 feet tall.

The first six signs were erected in October 1999, starting appropriately enough with St David's Avenue. In 2019 the Cemetery management replaced all the existing signs with brown metal Signs

We thank David for all those years of hard work.
